Wikipedia | Google | Google Images | FlickrTiendesitas is a shopping complex located within Frontera Verde in the intersection of C5 and E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue in Pasig City, Philippines. It is not the typical mall but has a rather unique concept, a village of 12 Maranao-inspired pavilions featuring cogon grass roofs, hammocks and old kalesa wheels. Housed in these pavilions are close to 500 vendors with some of the best products in the Philippines like native delicacies, handicrafts, furniture, antiques, and even pets and plants.
ShoppingAmong the many shops in Tiendesitas, some that are worth visiting include the 888 Antique Shop at the Antique Village that has a fine collection of religious icons, chandeliers, jars, jewelry and paintings. Napa’s Handicrafts located at the Handicrafts Village sell handwoven items from Albay while Dizon’s Furnitures at the Home Furnishing Village has well-designed furniture.
Find unique fashion accessories from all over the Philippines at the Fashion Village. The Pet Village is heaven for those with beloved pets as it houses grooming salons, pet supplies, fashion and accessories shop, pet clinic and pet shops.
DiningTiendesitas offers a whole array of Philippine delicacies and dishes that would otherwise not be sampled unless you go to that particular town. ECJ Farms from Bacolod has a display of preserved fruits and vegetables, organic produce, vinegar and wine. Philippine Mountain Coffee sells charcoal roasted coffee from different regions while Davao Tuna Grill serves tuna, salmon and seafood dishes from Davao. Those who follow Dr Tam’s diet will have a treat at his Veganhaus located at the Food Plaza.
EntertainmentThere’s a nightly treat of live band performances at a special area that is designed to host these shows as well as cultural presentations and regular exhibits. It is fun for both adults and kids to go around Tiendesitas on a kalesa from 4 to 9 pm everyday.
Opening HoursTiendesitas is open from 12 noon until 12 midnight daily.
How to Get ThereThere’s a free shuttle service that goes from Greenhills to the Delicacies Village of Tiendesitas and vice versa from 3 to 7 p.m. Taxis can also take you directly to the place. If you are taking the bus, take the EDSA route and stop at Shaw Boulevard then take a jeep from the EDSA Central Terminal that goes to Ugong, Pasig. For MRT riders, stop at the Shaw Station and take a jeep at the terminal to Ugong, Pasig.
Travel TipsBe mindful of your belongings as this is an open area with many openings where unscrupulous persons can easily escape.
Not too many vendors accept credit cards so bring cash just to be sure.
