Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa Cebu

It is about 15 minutes away from the airport and right within the area of the Lapulapu Shrine. The resort has a total of 13 hectares with crystal clear sea and lush tropical gardens.
There are more than 500 luxurious guest rooms and suites, each one well-furnished in an Asian style with classy Philippine furnishings using indigenous materials. Each room and suite has its own balcony that gives an amazing view of the sea or the garden including the Shangri-la Marine Sanctuary and the neighboring islets of Mactan.
High-speed Wi-fi and in-room wired broadband connection are available. For those who want to spend time in the room, there is a flat-screen TV with over 50 cable channels, coffee and tea-making facilities with a choice of several tea and coffee variants. Most of what you need for a relaxing stay are available at the room including pressing board and iron, bathrobes, slippers, digital safe, hairdryer, mini bar. Whatever is not available at the room is just a phone call away.
The Ocean Club provides premium features including the use of the Chi the Spa, in-room Ipod station, a personal concierge and the use of the exclusive Ocean Lounge with complimentary breakfast, all-day snacks and evening cocktails.
Things to Do
Whatever your preference is, there are several dining outlets to choose from. Tides is located below the main lobby and offers international buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tea of Spring is their Chinese Restaurant with specialties like Sizzling King Prawns and Braised Two-Head Abalone with Oyster Sauce while Acqua at the garden level of the Ocean Wing offers Italian comfort food like pizza and pasta.
Breeze at the beach has refreshing snacks and drinks while the Buko Bar at the Poolside serves light refreshments like sandwiches and pizza. The Lobby Lounge overlooking the garden and pool serves snacks and cocktails with relaxing live entertainment at night. Ice cream is available in Scoops at the poolside. The resort’s stellar restaurant is Cowrie Cove at the beach cove which offers fresh seafood like Chili Mud Crab and Seared Scallop in an al fresco dining setting with a panoramic view of the ocean.
There are two large swimming pools; one is the multi-level pool in the main garden with a waterslide for kids while the other one is a smaller one at the Ocean Wing. There’s also a children’s pool and an aquaplay area for kids with exciting water slides and rainbow shower. The 350-meter beach is perfect for swimming and water activities like snorkeling, jet ski, wind surfing, kayaking, catamaran sailing, stand-up paddle and kayaking.
The adventure Zone is a 3-storey indoor kid’s playground with a 90-degree slide while Toddler Zone has a ball pool and toys for infants and toddlers up to 3 years. Right near it is the E-Zone with two karaoke rooms, a café bar, X-box 360 games and Time Zone arcade games. Practice your golf swings at Pitch and Putt, the six-hole golf park located beyond the main swimming pool. A Philippine landmark is represented in each hole at the mini golf park. There are tennis courts as well.
Relax and Rejuvenate
One of the highlights of the resort is CHI, The Spa offers treatments and massages that will relax and rejuvenate your tired bodies. Using natural methods and Philippine botanical products, the spa offers body exercise, massage, hydrotherapy, stretching and meditation for healing of mind and body. There’s a fitness center and a health club for those who want to stay fit although jogging around the resort is another great idea.
You can go island hopping to the different islets near Mactan Island. Small motor boats locally called pumpboats that can seat from 10 to 30 guests will take you from the resort to the different dive spots and beautiful beaches near the resort.
How to Get There
From the airport, take a taxi or car rental to take you directly. The resort shuttle has scheduled trips to and from the airport throughout the day for a fee but it is complimentary for those booked at the Ocean Wing. There are also shuttle services to and from the resort and major malls like SM Cebu and Ayala Center. For the more adventurous, there’s a small yellow jeepney near the international departure going to Marina Mall. From Marina Mall, take the small jeepney that goes to Punta Engano/Pusok and get off at the entrance of the resort.
Ask for a hot pot from housekeeping so you can enjoy coffee or tea in the comfort of your room.
There is an ATM machine at the lobby that accepts international cards. Foreign exchange services are also available at the resort.
