Wikipedia | Google | Google Images | FlickrSimply the largest shopping destination in Mindano, SM Lanang Premier in Davao City houses over 300 different store outlets and restaurants. SM Lanang is also one of the many shopping malls all over the country that was developed and managed by SM Prime Holdings. The four-storey building is situated along J.P. Laurel Avenue, within the Dakudao loop – formerly Lanang Golf and Country Club. Being one of the top shopping districts in the region, SM Lanang Premier is also considered a major tourist attraction, catering to over a thousand shoppers from all over, every day.
The mall’s unique exterior design was inspired from origami, or the Japanese art of paper folding. The concept of the origami is featured through the abstract and asymmetric lines of each sides of the mall’s façade. SM Lanang Premier, like any other SM malls, has its own SM store and supermarket, 6 cinemas including an IMAX theater, an SMX Convention Center, and its very own SM Science Discovery Center.
Surrounding the prestigious SM Lanang in the loop are empty lots allotted for high-rise residential condominiums and commercial buildings. The world-class Radisson Blu Davao is also connected to the SM Lanang Main Building via Sky Bridge.
VisitingThe SM Lanang’s mall hours is from 10 AM – 9 PM, Monday to Sunday. Upon entering the mall, what really emphasizes its spacious interior is the wide center of the building. At the ground floor are where most events and promotions are held. The commercial establishments and store outlets surround the hollow center of the building, other stores are also distributed along the different wings of the mall. Some signature brands you’ll see in SM Lanang Premier are American Eagle Outfitters, Forever 21, Guess, and other international designer boutiques.
DiningOne of SM Lanang Premier’s most-visited dining haven is “Vikings”, a buffet restaurant which offers literally over a hundred different food choices, ranging from Japanese cuisine to Chinese, Korean, Italian, and American favorites. Aside from traditional and fusion restaurants, another top choice is the Hog’s Breath Café, a popular international franchise that serves the best steak in town.
Getting ThereThe SM Lanang Premier is just 1.6 miles from the Davao Airport and about 2.5 miles away from the port of the city. Getting a taxi ride from any of these terminals is quick and convenient. Although the mall is pretty far from the downtown area, the taxi ride going to SM will cost you less than ₱200 ($4.40).
