In the Cranny, the visitors can dive into a tank of clear water where they can float between various types of fish and underwater plants. Moreover, the Cranny offers other activities such as trail float, horseback riding, bird watching and much more. All these activities allow the tourists to experience nature in a diverse and open environment.
HistoryThe ecotourism tours in the Green River Cranny of Silver began in 1995.
In the same year, the owners wrote a series of guidelines for sustainability with the goal of guiding the development of the attraction over time. All of them emphasizing professionalism, authenticity, innovation, creativity, and valuing the people and culture of the region.
Since their opening date, the mission of this place is to provide the visitor with a unique experience which includes interaction with nature through ecotourism tours focused on innovation, environmental conservation, and sustainable development of the region.
The Cranny is a tourist spot known throughout Brazil because of its many awards. These awards include the ECO Award for Business Management for Sustainability in 2008, Best Job in Ecotourism; Best Tourist Attraction in Brazil which was awarded by Guia 4 Rodas (in 2008 and 2009), MPE Brazil Award as the State Winner MS in 2009; Best Job in Ecotourism 2010, The RPPN Farm of Silver Bedside 2011; MPE Brazil Award as State Winner MS in 2012, the Braztoa Sustainability Award in 2012 and also, the TripAdvisor Award in 2013 and 2014.
Activities for the TouristsThere are numerous activities available for those visiting the Green River Cranny of Silver, among them are:
Trail and FluctuationThe tour in the Silver River is done in groups of up to 9 people with the accompaniment of an expert guide. Upon arriving at the attraction, the visitors receive, which is already included in the cost of the tour, the proper equipment for this activity.
The ecotourism tour begins with a pleasant walk through the woods of the Silver River, through an interpretive trail. The visitors, during the route, find numerous old trees, orchids, and Bromeliads and they may spot several species of mammals such as Coati, Capuchin monkeys, Peccaries, Agoutis, Anteaters as well as different species of birds that inhabit the area.
Upon arriving at the source of the River Eye of Water; a huge natural pool of crystal clear water, the guide demonstrates how to use the equipment correctly. After that, the tour of the river begins.
The gentle current takes visitors for a quiet ride in an underwater world, inhabited by dozens of fish species and aquatic plants. Shoals of Piraputangas, Dourados, Curimbatás, Piaus, Matogrossinhos and other types of fish which inhabit the Pantanal are some of the species that are spotted during the descent into the river.
For about 1.2 miles of the route, until the meeting of the rivers: Eye of Water and the Silver River, where the visitors have the option to choose between floating or embarking on a small boat with an electric motor in order to complete the tour.
Upon returning at the farmhouse, a delicious lunch, typical of the Mato Grosso do Sul, is ready to be served. There are a variety of homemade sweets which are included with the lunch.
The tour in the Silver River has a duration of around 4 hours.
Scuba DivingScuba diving in the Green River Cranny of Silver is accompanied by an experienced, professional diver that guides the visitor through an incredible world of crystal clear water which showcase a wide variety of fish and vegetation.
Beams of light, branches, fallen trunks, stone walls, and rock formations create an amazing underwater scenery.
A dip in the Silver River occurs at depths between 5 and 7 feet and last approximately 30 to 40 minutes on average. Anyone over 12 years of age can participate in this activity.
Horseback RidingHorseback riding in the Green River Cranny of Silver offers the visitors an excellent opportunity to experience nature while learning about the life of the countryman.
Tourists can enjoy all of this, combined with a scenery of unique beauty, accompanied by a beautiful sunset painted in shades of pink, orange, and blue that captivates everyone. During the itinerary, it is possible to catch a glimpse of many animals such as Armadillos, Anteaters, Rheas, Toucans, Macaws, Parrots, Herons, and many others.
The horseback ride lasts approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes and passes through different environments which surrounds the farm with a privileged view of the Savannah and the fields of the region.
An expert guide accompanies the group which may consist of a maximum of 8 people.
How to Get ThereThe Green River Cranny of Silver is located in the Silver Bedside Farm, situated on the BR267, 318 miles in the rural area of Jardim, Mato Grosso do Sul.
Getting to the Green River Cranny of Silver from:
BonitoExit the town by driving along the MS 178 or the MS 382 (passing the front of the Convention Center), followed by the MS 178 for 31 miles until arriving at the BR 267, then turn left in the direction of Jardim City for 2 miles and you should be able to locate the entrance of Green River Cranny of Silver.
JardimTake the BR 267 to Porto Murtinho, follow the route for 22 miles and then you should be able to locate the entrance of Green River Cranny of Silver.
Campo GrandeTake the BR 060 to Sidrolândia and continue towards Nioaque and into Guia Lopes. Then take the BR 267 to Jardim City, follow this route for 22 miles and then you should be able to locate the entrance of Green River Cranny of Silver.
LodgingThe Green River Cranny of Silver is a tourist attraction which does not offer lodging. However, there are many hotels, inns, and hostels in the cities of Bonito and Jardim that offers accommodation for the tourists in the region. Some of these hotels include Pousada Villa Verde, Wetiga Hotel; Hotel Estância, Hotel Jardim; Hotel Vitória, Pousada Gira Sol; Pousada Muito Bonito, among others.
