Locals will point you to Greenhills if you’re looking for export overruns, factory surplus, designer replicas, electronic gadgets, jewelry and more. The original complex was built in the late 1960s to serve the neighboring prominent subdivisions and schools. It has been renovated over the years and now includes different sections and structure such as the Promenade, New Promenade and Lifestyle Center.
ShoppingThe main shopping center is not your typical mall with individual shops. Rather, you will find rows of stalls that sell fashion accessories, clothes, home furniture and decorations and food. Shoppesville has fashion shops with good picks for women at Unarosa, Briosa Fashion and The Styling Room.
Those looking for Chinese home items will find a good collection at the Mandarin Gate of V-Mall and Terra Cotti of the Lifestyle Center. Get a good buy on South Sea Pearls, semi-precious stones and fine jewelry at a line of shops in The Jewellery section. V-Mall formerly Virra Mall still remains a must-go for computers, electronic gadgets, and mobile phones.
DiningWithin the Greenhills Shoppng Center, there are over 100 dining options that offer different types of food including several popular fastfood chains like McDonalds, KFC, and Shakey’s. There popular restaurants like Dulcinea which specializes in Spanish specialties like churros and hot chocolate and the modern Cantonese fine dining Gloria Maris, the biggest Chinese restaurant in Metro Manila.
The New Promenade hosts the most number including Lord Stow’s Bakery with its popular Portuguese egg tarts and Cowrie Grill by prominent Manila Hotel, a fine dining resto with international dishes like US Wagyu Grade 8 Beef Striploin.
EntertainmentThere is 1 cinema at the Theater Mall and 7 at the Promenade Mall which feature the latest local and international films. The Music Museum, a well-known theater and restaurant, has scheduled live shows and concerts every weekend while T.E.A.T.R.I.N.O is a smaller theater and bar.
How to Get ThereTake a cab as it is the easiest way to go to Greenhills. If you’re driving, take EDSA and exit at Ortigas Avenue. When taking the MRT, get off at the Santolan Station and walk for about 5 minutes going to the shopping center. Jeepneys and FX (air-conditioned utility vehicles) go to Greenhills from various areas of Metro Manila.
Tourist TipsBe prepared to haggle and mix in with the crowds as Greenhills can be overpopulated especially during weekends.
Make it a point to remember which entrance you came in as it can be quite confusing when you are inside the complex already. If shopping with others, find a landmark where you can meet-up.
Haggling is a must in Greenhills so always haggle for a lower price.
